The tadpoles have been learning about the outdoors, farmyard animals, and about life cycles. The tadpoles have been fascinated with watching our chicks hatch and grow every morning. The children have been learning about gentle hands and turn taking when petting the chicks.

Getting ready for school

Our pre-school teacher Sarah is holding a preparing for school evening on Wednesday the 25th of June 4-6pm. She will be able to advise you on the process of transitioning to school and what you may need to have ready. This does not replace our usual parent’s week in June where you can discuss your child’s development.

The frogs have been very excited about learning how chicks grow and other farmyard animal life cycles. The children have watched the eggs begin to shake, the chicks hatch out of their shells, they have watched them keep warm in the incubator and have then been holding them and watching how they move and what they do. The children have been learning about hygiene safety and about needing to be gentle with animals alongside this experience. The children have had a final teddy bears picnic for the last forest school session for the term, they did mud painting at the forest and helped their teddies to drink their water.

The babies have been dressing up and putting on hats, gloves and aprons. The children then brought in items of clothing from home to do with bedtime and we practiced our bedtime routine by brushing teeth, hair, cuddling our teddies and sharing our bedtime books. The children enjoyed learning about each others routines and looked at each others stories, clothes and teddies with curiosity.

One of our parents kindly brought us their chickens to meet! The children liked to stroke them and learned how to hold them safely. They also fed the chickens!
