Winter news from Abbeywood Tots

Let us start our latest blog by saying Happy New Year to all of our parents and carers. We hope that you all had a lovely Christmas!

With all of the excitement of the festive season now behind us and the start of the New Year truly underway, we thought it would be a great time to look back at what the children at our nurseries have been up to over the last couple of months of 2017 – we hope you enjoy reading it!

The babies had lots of fun exploring textures, and enjoyed lots of hands-on experiences as they tried a variety of fruit and played with a range of resources. The tadpoles also made some goody bags to take home and share with their friends and family at Christmas – we hope that you enjoyed them receiving them!

King Street

In the run up to Christmas the frogs had a great time making decorations and presents to take home. This involved using glitter and colours to make them as pretty as possible! In addition, Jess and Vera would like to thank everyone that helped to raise £252 for the Children’s Hospital by buying raffle tickets and also donating raffle prizes – the Grand Appeal were very grateful for our support.

The frogs had a lovely time going to the park and singing songs at the Pensioner’s Christmas party, as well as making some beautiful snowy pictures using different materials and salt dough tree decorations. The babies also got creative by helping to decorate our

Christmas tree, making Christmas hats and singing lots of Christmas songs!

Station Road

The babies enjoyed a fun trip to the shops to choose and buy ingredients for edible sparklers, and had a great time making them and eating them too! The tadpoles also got physical with an obstacle course, dancing, football and parachute games

Keeping parents updated

It was great to see so many of you at our festive plays and nativities before Christmas! At Abbeywood Tots we love sharing our news with you in our monthly newsletters and are committed to keeping parents updated with all of the goings on at their child’s nursery. We also love to hear your news too, and are really interested to know what you are doing outside of nursery. With that in mind, please let your nursery team know if you have any photos that we can talk about during our group times.
In addition to this, we also welcome your involvement in your child’s learning and progress, so please let us know if there are any sessions that you’d like to help with, or perhaps you have a great idea for activity or a trip. Currently, we are looking for parents to help with our ‘stay and play’ and upcoming ‘cook a book’ sessions, so if you’ve like to get involved then please get in touch with your nursery team – we look forward to hearing from you!

We also use our newsletters as a way to ensure that parents and carers are aware of some important information. With this in mind, we’d like to politely remind you of the following:

  • We do not to allow the children to bring their own toys into nursery.
  • Don’t forget to also bring in wellington boots and waterproof clothing for your child, as we go outside in all weathers!
  • If you wish to book in an extra session, please email, and if you wish to change your current sessions, please email (please note that these changes will need one months’ notice.)
  • Also, if you are currently receiving 30 free hours childcare, please ensure that you renew your code every 3 months or your code will expire.

The Filton nursery would also like to remind parents that they currently have a large collection of lost property. If you are missing items of clothing, please speak to a member of the team.
