The Butterflies have been exploring the outdoor allotment space. They have been taking a box of tools such as jumbo tweezers and magnifying glasses to see what we can find and what we can take back with us. The children are beginning to become familiar with our chickens so we have decided to look at farm animals and the sounds that they make. The butterflies have been making Christmas pictures for their loved ones and had a great time at the Christmas sing-a-long. We thought the butterflies were very brave when they saw their carers watching!

The tadpoles have been getting into the Christmas spirit by creating many kinds of decorations! The children have been using glitter, salt-dough, paint, material pieces and ribbons to make lovely decorations to hang on our Christmas trees at home. We invited family members to come and join in and we had a busy crafts session, thank you to all that came. The tadpoles have been showing an interest in caring for others and for babies and have enjoyed giving the babies cuddly toys and playing with them with puppets as well as pretending to feed a dolly some milk and give them dummies. The tadpoles recently went to visit the local library where we chose our books for our ‘core book of the week’. We have recently been reading ‘The big yellow digger’ which the children quickly became fascinated by and were pretending to be in Australia and using cones as digeridoo’s, the children eventually made their own Digeridoo!

The frogs have been very excited about Christmas! We were lucky enough that Father Christmas and one of his Elves had some time to come and visit us in our Santa’s grotto that we made for them! He brought us all an early Christmas present and wished us merry Christmas. We enjoyed our Christmas dinner at nursery, we all wore Christmas jumpers and pulled the crackers and wore our Christmas hats as we ate our Christmas dinner, yum! The frogs did very well during the Christmas performance and we had lots of loved ones come and support them. After our practicing of the song from Frozen the children have been creating pictures of the frozen characters such as the one in the image of Elsa. The children are slowly counting down using the advent to Christmas morning!

We would like to thank all of the parents that have brought us Christmas gifts and we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
