Abbeywood Tots Filton February March 2015
This week the frogs have been learning about numbers and patterns. They made a high chart in the shape of a bean stalk and we measured some of the children’s heights we also counted as high as we could and recognised numbers 1-10 in big black bold writing. The other frogs went out to our front car park and made our own tally chart, we were spotting red, blue, silver and black cars and afterwards we counted the total amount. Our numbers and shape week has been lots of fun!
This week lots of us have returned after half term and have been very excited to see and play in our new room. We are getting used to it, but so far we love it. We have had a very physical week too. We have enjoyed doing our number action game every morning, this helped us to the numbers in sequences or at random! Our favourite activity was a ball game with hockey sticks in the garden. We had lots of fun and developed our gross motor skills as well as control. Our focus this week at the zoo was reptiles and amphibians. We visited the reptile house and were very interested in the many different animals. We also visited the giant land turtles then sat next to them for a story. We read the ‘The Selfish Crocodile’ then created our very own crocodile using coloured tissue paper. We were able to recognise why these animals fall under the category of reptiles and amphibians. We loved visiting the new recently hatched baby crocodiles.

This week the children have been learning about how to use their bodies for movement. We done some dancing to Indian music and different actions to songs. In the garden the children have been using their whole body for climbing, running, and jumping. We have also been practising to balance in the garden using the wooden balancing beams.
